481 Series After the unification of the Berlin metro systems a major train renewal program was launched in 1992. This program was meant to modernize the stock on a large scale. Only after one year of development the Deutsche Waggonbau and IFS were able to present a model of the new train to the public. The 481 Series, here in traditional red and beige-colouring, now numbers over 100 units and features as a prominent part of Berlin. According to surveys it is one of the key factors in improving passenger satisfaction. |
